About the Painting:
I used a relative's photos of yellow thistles growing in the Badlands National Park as my reference for this small painting. I liked the contrast of the fresh greens and yellows against the dry dusty reds and tans of the mountains.

I used blues & whites for the sky & whispy clouds. Tans, browns, and reds were used for the background mountains and trails. I used a small round brush for the green and yellow thistle plants in the foreground.
