About the drawing:
My inspiration for this drawing was a dahlia lost some of it's lower petals over the course of time. We so often overlook the less than perfect things in our day. But this flower with it's missing lower petals caught my attention, and for some reason reminded me of a morning sunrise. The upper petals rising up to the morning sky and the center cluster as the bright glow of the morning sun, ready to start the new day.
I use Hb, #4, # 6 graphite pencils to capture the glory of this unique dahlia.
