About the Painting:
My inspiration for this painting is an old sycamore tree stump we would pass by during weekly walks. It has been slowly decaying, leaving interesting patterns of peeling bark, holes, and crumbling insides. Each week I expected to see the tree stump fallen over, and yet it still stands. Woodpeckers, wind, and snow storms, haven't been able to knock over this old tree. I took a few photos to capture it before the winter storms moved in, and used them to paint this painting.
