About the drawing:
A family member took photos as they traveled through the Badlands in South Dakota. I was intrigued with the yellow thistles there. We have lots of purple thistle in Pennsylvania, but not yellow. I used their photos as my reference for this painting.

I loosely painted the yellow thistles with acrylic inks in iridescent yellows, and light and medium greens. I used a permanent india ink pen to draw the details and shading on the painting. I added some ink splatters for a little extra pizazz. Enjoy!
